Fishing for the Clayoquot Sound Cannery in the 1920s

During the 1920s and 1930s, Harold Monks fished for the Clayoquot Sound Canning Company at Kenn Falls on Tofino Inlet. He kept detailed fishing records from 1920-1934 and also recorded his June and July 1920 fishing experiences in a diary. Combined with news accounts and the annual reports of the Commissioner of Fisheries, we can build a picture of what Harold was catching and what the “Kennfalls Cannery” was canning. These photos come from Harold’s photo albums and undeveloped negatives (now scanned) in his collection. Click on the photo to see full image and captions.
